In order to fulfil its mission FoE MedNet:

• Lobbies for and supports the development of national and regional sustainable development strategies in the Mediterranean basin which respect both the environment and culture of the diverse Mediterranean societies, where there is a real commitment to people’s well-being, their involvement in dialogue, decision making, and the establishment of long term sustainability targets.
• Believes that women must be given equal opportunities in the Mediterranean and campaigns for full compliance with relevant international agreements on women’s rights.
• Campaigns to raise awareness of negative environmental and social impacts of the establishment of the EuroMediterranean Free Trade Zone by 2010.
• Campaigns for the depollution of the Mediterranean Sea by 2020
• Promotes the introduction of sustainable production and consumption patterns, especially among school children.

By organising seminars, lobbying and providing adequate information and technical knowledge related to these main environmental issues in the Mediterranean, FoE MedNet members increase environmental awareness, strengthen social and cultural ties, enhance and broaden the participation of people and environmental citizens organisations in political processes and influence political decision-makers in the Mediterranean region.
