Tunceli, 23 October. The second important station of the Monster Tomato Tour in the Eastern region of Turkey was Tunceli. Although the population declared by the State Statistical Institute (in 1990) was around a quarter million, the immigration due to the different factors including terrorism have decreased this quantity to 25.000 people.

The public and the environmental organisations of Tunceli are aware of their beautiful environment and trying to defend their water resources such as the Munzur stream.

The biodiversity and health risks of transgenic plants and GM foods were the main aspects for the anti GMO campaign in Tunceli.
