Trolley Parade
and SAVE OUR FOOD FROM GENETIC POLLUTION!
|

Take
action now! |

|
Friends of the Earth is organising a big trolley parade on
9th October. Hundreds of people will be marching and pushing
supermarket trolleys through the streets of Brussels asking to save
our food from genetic pollution.
When people go shopping they want to have the freedom of choice…
they want to know what they are eating… The action will send a clear
message to Ministers of EU Member States and MEPs: Europe’s citizens
want the right to choose food free of Genetically Modified Organisms
(GMO).
The trolleys will come from all over Europe. They will be decorated
with the national flags and be filled with food specialties
from all over Europe.
At the end of the march, we will present the food to the European
decision makers and ask them what they will do to safe our food from
genetic pollution… and if they can assure us that we will have the
choice to eat food free of genetic pollution now and in the future.

More
about the action |

|
On 9th October, key civil servants and Members of the European Parliament
(MEPs) are meeting in Brussels, and just over a week later in Luxembourg
the ministers will make their decision on labelling of genetically
modified food (GM) and animal feed. We are inviting concerned citizens
from all over Europe (and beyond) to come to Brussels and join the
action.
The upcoming EU decisions will directly affect your freedom to choose
GM-free food. Despite environmental hazards and serious doubts about
the safety of GM food, the European Commission has announced that
it wants to lift the moratorium (import ban) on genetically modified
organisms (GMOs) and continue to introduce them into the food chain
and the environment. The USA, the world’s largest exporter of GMOs,
is also putting pressure on Europe to accept GMOs in food and agriculture.
Friends of the Earth believes protection of the environment and consumers
is more important than the trade interests of the GMO industry. Read
more about it on http://www.foeeurope.org/GMOs/index.htm.
