    Voodoo economics A report commissioned by Friends of the Earth England, Wales and Northern Ireland which reveals that building a new generation of nuclear power stations in the United Kingdom would mean wasting large sums of taxpayers money.
    Voodoo Economics and the Doomed Nuclear Renaissance was written by ex Guardian environment correspondent Paul Brown.
    It exposes fifty years of disastrous performance, failed technology and broken promises. It also highlights escalating bills to the taxpayer and a backlog of toxic waste.

    Reactors from the 70's for the 21st Century The Italian-Slovak utility Enel/SE and the Slovak government are speeding up the completion of Mochovce Units 3 and 4. When it comes to nuclear safety of these VVER 440/V213 units, there is conflicting information as to which standard is to be applied.

    face your demonsNuclear power plant operators have a ridiculously small liability insurance for compensating damage when an accidents occurs. This position paper of Friends of the Earth Europe exposes the exact scale of the gap between the insured sum and the huge financial risk of accidents with nuclear power plants.

    Also it introduces an alternative system for insuring nuclear power plants which is currently being discussed between academics and regulators, and which might provide at least more financial security for the people living in the wider area around nuclear power plants.
