Conference contents:

  • presentations on the environmental, climate and social impacts of oil and gas industry operations
  • discussions of policy recommendations to reduce the industry’s greenhouse gas emissions, conserve  energy, reduce environmental pressure across chains of production (fossil fuels),  sustainable use of natural resources, accountability for damages, financial subsidies
  • assessment of the oil and gas industry’s performance in relation to poverty eradication and environmental impacts
  • case studies including Canada oil sands, Arctic oil exploration, impacts of European oil and gas operations in Nigeria and Russia

The conference will bring together representatives of civil society from European and developing countries including communities affected by the industry operations, the European Commission, the European Parliament, industry, international organisations and the media. 

Friends of the Earth Europe can reimburse travel and accommodation costs for a limited number of civil society participants.
