following the discussion within the cross-sectoral-network on the financial crisis as well as informal contacts between several civil society organisations that have been approached by members of the European Parliament in the quest of developing counter-expertise in the field of financial regulation (see www.finance-watch.org),

you are invited to discuss the standpoint of civil-society towards the MEP’s call for a “finance-watch”, to exchange experiences and build joint capacities to influence financial regulation, and to plan joint campaign activities for sustainable finance. 

The following day (September 28), you may use our meeting rooms for an open space. You may provide a workshop or presentation of your work or use the opportunity for joint strategic planning.

The conference will take place at
  • Mundo-B, Rue d’Edimbourg 26, Bruxelles, Belgium [click here for a map]
    (5 min from Metro station “Port de Namur”).
  • We will pause the conference for the MEP’s invitation (12:30 – 14:30) and walk jointly to the European Parliament and back. Lunch will be provided in the conference package.
  • Please join us for dinner after the conference ends. Venue will be announced.

  • Monday 15:00 - 16:30, Capacity building workshops: (1) capital requirements & sustainability criteria banking regulation, (2) food speculation & (commodity) derivative regulation (t.b.c.), (3) innovative finance, Robin Hood and the FTT
