Summer 2004: a 10m high "Carbon Dinosaur" traveled
to European capitals, ministry, power hungry industries, coal mining
sites and oil companies, naming and shaming those who are blocking effective
action to fight dangerous climate change. The Carbon Dinosaur has
visited over 50 cities in Europe. Outstanding climate killers in
Europe have been given Carbon Dinosaur Awards
for exceptional efforts to block action to fight climate change.
Man made climate change, caused by the emission of greenhouse
gases, is the biggest threat the planet faces. Yet industry resist phasing
out the old and inefficient power stations and industry installations,
Europe's Carbon Dinosaurs. However, the technology and the political
concepts are there to shift away from the inefficient use of coal, oil
and gas. What's more, investing in energy efficiency, increased use
of renewable energy sources and reducing total energy demand will not
only help saving the global climate but bring benefits to our economy
