Friends of the Earth Europe today joined Korean activists in Brussels to protest against the EU-Korea Trade Agreement

Friends of the Earth Europe attended a rally outside the European Council building in Brussels where its Trade Campaigner, Charly Poppe, addressed demonstrators protesting against the EU-Korea Trade Agreement

Trade Campaigner Charly Poppe addressed members of the Korean Alliance Against US/EU-Korea Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and other activists at a rally timed to coincide with the third round of negotiations.

Talks between the EU and South Korea are taking place in Brussels from 17 to 21 September 2007 and a delegation representing trade unions, farmers' associations, student and women's groups is in Brussels to voice its opposition to the deal.

Charly Poppe, Trade Campaigner at Friends of the Earth Europe, said: "This agreement could have devastating impacts on people and the environment, by opening large sectors to unregulated international competition, eroding policy space and creating absurd trade flows".
