Largest-ever gathering of campaigners on European Free Trade Agreements

In April, FoEE hosted the largest-ever international gathering of campaigners on Free Trade Agreements in Brussels. The events, organised jointly by trade campaign networks from Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America were attended by more than 100 campaigners from 38 countries across the world. Campaigners had the unique opportunity to share experiences, exchange information and develop joint strategies to counter the increased number of European Free Trade Agreements. Campaigners also had the opportunity to present their views to MEPs and build up support for their demands during a well-attended public hearing in the European Parliament.

A colourful and cheerful action was also organised in the middle of the EU area to reach out to the European public and the media. FoEE also organised a series of lobby meetings with decision-makers in the European Parliament and the Commission together with Grace Garcia Munoz from COECOCEIBA/FoE Costa Rica, and partners from allied groups. This was part of the largest-ever speakers' tour in Europe on EU FTAs, with events in Brussels, Paris, London, Berlin, Madrid, Amsterdam, Utrecht and The Hague.
