Friends of the Earth Europe (FoEE) is recruiting an

Intern for the position of Tour Assistant
for its ENERGY UNION climate project
Based in Brussels but mostly travelling abroad during the tour.
For four months, full time. Start date: 22nd June 2009
This is a unique opportunity to work alongside our Climate and Energy team to help deliver a successful pan-European climate project: ENERGY UNION.
We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic person to join the FoEE team on a short term basis. The position is based in Brussels, full time, and runs from late June until late October 2009. The successful candidate will work at the beginning and end of the contract from the FoEE office, and will travel long periods during the tour (July to September) to Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary.
Climate change can be stopped. ENERGY UNION rejects doomsday scenarios and reclaims a positive vision of the future.
Intelligent Energy is the solution. Intelligent lifestyles, energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies will help launch humanity into the bright, independent, solar age, leaving behind the fossil fuel dependent era. We want young people to realise that the move to Intelligent Energy is possible and the power to achieve it is vested in us all. We want them to act. Now.
The climate-friendly ENERGY UNION Tour comprises 24 tour stops in 12 European countries over two years - eight tour stops in 2009 - with a live audio-visual show, and an interactive exhibition travelling in a specially-commissioned railway wagon rather than by road. FoE Europe and local/national FoE groups are the environmental partners for the tour.
The ENERGY UNION has three tools to promote Intelligent Energy for young people between 16 and 30:
- COLDCUT (British musicians, pioneers of audio-visual art, and the creators of the Ninja Tune label) will produce a special live audio-visual show
- an interactive exhibition with an interactive dancefloor
- political debates with decision makers and young people.
In Summer 2009 the tour will visit Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary. The tour supports FoEE’s demand for steep annual cuts in greenhouse gas emissions across Europe with no offsetting. More information at http://energyunion.eu
FoE Europe campaigns for sustainable and just societies and for the protection of the environment. It unites more than 31 national organisations with thousands of local groups and is part of the world's largest grassroots environmental network, Friends of the Earth International.
