Friends of the Earth Macedonia

The Ecologist's Movement of Macedonia is a non-governmental, non-profitable and apolitical organisation. They include 23 national environmental organisations as full-members and was established to coordinate the work of existing local groups working on environmental issues. As members of Friends of the Earth International (FoEI), Youth and Environment Europe (YEE) and International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the group has very active partnerships with neighboring NGOs.

Their objective is to raise public awareness concerning environmental protection, sustainable development, and preservation of nature at the lowest level of destruction.

Activists organise a wide range of activities and public campaigns; they organise discussions on environmental issues with a range of audiences, talks with experts, direct actions, protests, and produce awareness raising publications and leaflets. Part of their work involves trainings, workshops, and educational sessions in primary and secondary schools, and they lobby on behalf of the environment at a national level. Every year they recognise people, organisations and public institutions, both good and bad with their public presentation of the Green, or Rotten, apple award.
