Nuclear industry: Face your demons - towards full liability for nuclear power plant operators
Nuclear power plant operators have a ridiculously small liability insurance for compensating damage when an accidents occurs. This position paper exposes the scale of the gap between the insured sum and the huge financial risk of nuclear accidents.
It also introduces an alternative system for insuring nuclear power plants which is currently being discussed between academics and regulators. This system might provide at least more financial security for people living in the area around nuclear power plants. |
