While the EU is enlarging to the east, it is also expanding its influence southward via the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership and the proposed creation of a Mediterranean Free Trade Zone (MFTZ). FoE monitors this process with vigilance to ensure that these plans take the environment into account in close co-operation with FoE Middle East in the MFTZ Watch Project.

This site is designed to serve as a forum for information exchange between activists, researchers and concerned citizens regarding the potential environmental and other social consequences of the establishment of a Mediterranean Free Trade Zone (MFTZ). 

The site is part of the MFTZ Environment Watch Project to build a
broad network of organizations and individuals to monitor the
environmental and social implications of the Euro-Med/MFTZ process and
to develop an effective voice for promoting environmental concerns in
these contexts. 

All individuals and organizations are encouraged to take part in this
network. Submissions of relevant material or links for this website are also
welcome.
