Marina is a young woman from Greece who is using art as a way of confronting and challenging injustices while creating the world that we know is possible. Her art can be viewed here.
Some of her previous work includes a beautiful mural in Lima, Peru, that she made together with Luka Tomac of Friends of the Earth Croatia during the UN climate talks in 2014, and which shows how climate change, dirty energy and extractivism are affecting people.
COP21 has reached its end game. The Durban platform closed on Saturday, and a new draft has been negotiated by ministers has now been published.
Despite countless closed door meetings, late night sessions, unprecedented exclusion of civil society and attempts by powerful Northern countries to hasten the process, little has been achieved so far.
Jamie Gorman & Romina Ranke from Young Friends of The Earth Europe, beautifully summarise why is it important to stand in solidarity with social and climate movements from Global South, and why frontline communities fighting climate change are building the real solutions to the climate crisis.
Today, we organised an action at the COP21, criticising the draft Paris agreement released over the weekend. We used a giant locked door to symbolise the barring of civil society observers from the negotiations, and the nature of the conference as a venue for backroom deals. The draft text flies in the face of the Convention: key principles are not being respected and many provisions will be voluntary. We did this action to demand and ask: what are developed countries hiding? What is the hidden agenda behind this unjust draft deal?

UN CLIMATE TALKS ARE "A RIGGED GAME", CLIMATE JUSTICE GROUPS SAY IN ACTION
On Monday, more than 140 world Heads of State will launch two weeks of climate talks in Paris. Young Friends of the Earth Europe (YFoEE), together with Friends of the Earth International, expect they will deliver an unprecedented, but weak global agreement. We do not have high expectations for the outcome, but the YFoEE team will be present in Paris to call for a transformation of our energy system and to show what real people power means.
